MTI's Broadway Senior Collection Recognized for Innovation
Music Theatre International (MTI) has been awarded the 2025 Promising Practices Award by the Mather Institute for its innovative Broadway Senior collection, which features adaptations of popular musicals tailored for older performers. This initiative, aimed at enhancing the theatrical experience for individuals aged 55 and above, includes a streamlined licensing process and shorter 60-minute versions of shows.
The collection debuted with five titles, including The Music Man SR., each designed to facilitate production with a flat licensing fee that encompasses scripts, performance tracks, and a comprehensive production guide. The program's roots trace back to a pilot production of Guys and Dolls SR. in 2014, showcasing MTI's commitment to enriching the lives of older adults through collaborative performance opportunities.
MTI President and CEO Drew Cohen expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the positive impact of musical participation on self-esteem and well-being among older adults.
